From  1918,  Fr  Broderick,  based   in  Fitzwilliam  and   then  Kinsley,  said  Mass occasionally at the Grange in Ackworth. In 1920, Eagle House was bought in High Ackworth and a chapel dedicated to Our Lady of Lourdes.

In 1939 Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church was then built at Ackworth Crossroads (now roundabout). 

Sadly the Church was demolished in 2012 and 8 new houses were built on the site.
