I hope these pages go someway towards helping our younger generations get a glimpse into the history of both the light railway which ran through the heart of Ackworth from Fitzwilliam, to join up at Brackenhill junction on the main York - Sheffield railway line. Also Ackworth Station which was on the main line between Moorthorpe and Pontefract Baghill Stations and built in an almost identical style.
